- Size
Gowling and Gibb Architects maintains a steady staff of Architects and Technical personnel in its' Calgary office. With this core group of ten people and use of the latest techniques of computer assisted drafting (AutoCAD Architecture 2012), and other computer support services (Corel WordPerfect -Office X4), (Corel Draw 14), (Adobe Creative Suite), (Google Sketch-up), and our e-mail address design@gowlingandgibb.com we can easily handle large scale projects while ensuring that a personal and direct service is provided to our clients. This personal service is directed by one of the principals, but the size of the firm allows for meaningful and direct input from all members of the staff, thus providing a "team approach" to all facets of the work. The varying background and experience of our design and technical team allows a well balanced input of programming analysis, design conceptualization, technical innovation, and detailed design development.
- Our History
In March of 1984, Gowling and Gibb Architects was registered. The original partnership consisted of R. Michael Gibb (Registered Architect) who has had a private architectural practice in Calgary since 1977, W. Barry Gowling (Registered Architect) practicing in Alberta since 1978, and Mr. Winston Dziver a senior Architectural Technologist. In March of 1986, our affiliated company, The GDG Architectural Group was formed to complement the services provided by Gowling and Gibb Architects. In particular, GDG coordinates most of the institutional projects, planning studies, interior design projects, and graphics work for the two firms. In May of 1993, Barry Gowling Architect was formed. Through arrangements with our Alberta based companies, Barry Gowling Architect offers full service, architectural consulting to our clients for construction projects in British Columbia. In 2003, Mr. Dziver retired from the partnership. Most recently in 2011 two long time associates of the firm, Mr. Ed Zukowski, Architect, and Mr. Neil Holmes, Senior Architectural Technologist joined the partnership. Also in 2011 the firm extended our services to the province of Saskatchewan through an arrangement with Ed Zukowski Architect, registered to practice in that province.
